DTAC launches Roaming2Mile Program to allow roaming customers to turn their spending into Royal Orchid Plus Mileage credits

 THAILAND, 23 August 2006 - Following the ‘Mass of Niche’ concept, DTAC joins hands with Royal Orchid Plus of Thai Airway International Plc to introduce DTAC Roaming2Mile Program. The move is to offer the special privilege for DTAC Postpaid customers who are Royal Orchid Plus members to easily turn their International Roaming (IR) calls into mileage credits.

Sunti Medhavikul, DTAC’s Chief Customer Officer, said DTAC has adopted the ‘Mass of Niche’ concept with an aim to create new services that provide good cares conveniences to each specific group of DTAC Postpaid customers. DTAC believes that it is necessary to thoroughly respond to different needs of users in different segments.

To be in line with the new business style, DTAC has teamed up with Royal Orchid Plus to launch DTAC Roaming2Mile Program, which enables DTAC postpaid customers who are frequent flyers to turn their IR into mileages.

According to a survey, travelers are the group of customers with promising revenue potential due to the number of people traveling outside the country has been rising approximately 10% per year.

Chertchai Methanayanonda, Loyalty Marketing Department Director of Thai Airway International Plc, said that it is a pleasure for Royal Orchid Plus to collaborate with DTAC to offer DTAC Postpaid customers, who are Royal Orchid Plus members, the privilege to earn and boost their mileages when they use DTAC's international roaming service aboard.

Mileages received from the program come in addition to mileages they normally receive when they fly Thai Airway International or other Star Alliances' member airlines.

Wansit Saiyawan, Unit Head of DTAC’s International Business Unit, said that from the study, earning addition mileages, especially from Royal Orchid Plus, is the most needed privilege among traveler customers.

The program is the first direct collaboration between the mobile phone operator and Royal Orchid Plus to offer the privilege in a straight line to DTAC’s Postpaid traveler customers. The transfer rate, from IR to mileage, is at Bt10 per mile.

DTAC Roaming2Mile’s target group is DTAC Postpaid travelers who are frequent travelers. Presently, DTAC’s IR subscribers are 130,000 or about 7.2 percent of the total Postpaid customers.

Wansit said that it is believed that DTAC Roaming2Mile Program would potentially increase customers loyalty. The program is valid for 1 year. It has started from August 2006 – July 2007.

DTAC Postpaid customers can enroll to the program at www.DTAC.co.th or apply to get the new privilege via 1678 DTAC Call Center. The first 300 customers applied to the program within September 30, 2006 will receive at once 1,000 miles as a special bonus.

Presently, DTAC has allowed Postpaid customers to make IR calls in 128 countries via networks of 346 operators worldwide. At the same time, to meet with the increasing demands of customers on data and PushMail usage, DTAC has planned to expand the GPRS roaming networks worldwide from 135 operators it has partnered in 63 countries up to 80 countries within this year.
