Asia Mobility Initiative appoints new Executive Director

ASIA-PACIFIC, 10 February 2006 - Asia Mobility Initiative (AMI) today announced the appointment of Steven Siew-Key Chan as its Executive Director. Mr Chan will head the AMI alliance, which will have offices in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

Mr Chan, (47), will lead the regional alliance of mobile operators to develop products and services that will benefit members and their customers. He will also manage AMI’s relationships with vendors, suppliers and content providers. Mr Chan’s responsibilities will include working with standard setting bodies, industry groups and vendors to influence standards.

Mr Chan is on secondment from Singapore mobile operator MobileOne (M1) where he had been the Director of Internet Services and Product Development since 1999. Besides leading the development of many of M1’s innovative services, Mr Chan was instrumental in starting and managing M1’s Application Developers’ Community programme and M1-Nokia Future Lab. He is also a board member of Wireless Intellect Lab (WIL), a M1 R&D subsidiary.

A member of the National Internet Advisory Council in Singapore, Mr Chan is also actively involved in the Wireless Chapter of the Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation of which he is a founding member and currently sits on the executive committee.

Trained as an engineer, Mr Chan graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University on a Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) scholarship in 1987.
